History

Next Hop LLC was founded in 2024 by IT analysts who were dissatisfied with the state of the managed services industry. We witnessed neglect and mismanagement - sometimes to a dangerous degree - in a series of IT and MSP jobs. We observed commonalities across several roles: rapid churn, a perpetual state of emergency, and the deterioration of valuable relationships.

Idealism and ambition are the core of our organization.

Our principles

The work we do is challenging, sometimes very urgent, and demands deep technical expertise and cognitive energy. We aim to create a workplace that is supportive, comfortable and enjoyable so that we can meet challenges with energy and unity. How do we do this?

Center accountability and good faith

Roles have clear accountabilities. People understand their role. When people act outside their role, they coordinate, document and discuss.
Mistakes are not punished - they are owned, remediated, and used as opportunities for training. The chain of command is respected, but not sacrasanct.

Build spaces that are welcoming and familiar

We think that workspaces (especially in-person offices, but also online spaces) should feel like home. Workers need amenities, accomodations and support in order to do their best work and to feel valued.

Discourage siloing

Good companies run on transparency. Good teams run on communication. Unaccountable people acting in their own self-interest and maintaining walls around information is in complete opposition to our principles. We think it’s bad for people and bad for business.

Crew resource management

We take inspiration from the aviation industry across the board. One concept lifted whole from aviation is that of CRM. To maintain situational awareness and make informed, viable decisions, it’s critical to raise and discuss issues promptly. Our processes are built to accomodate the unexpected, and our policies encourage team members to question thier leadership.
